What is the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)?

The Canada Emergency Response Benefit, or CERB, was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faced with unprecedented layoffs due to COVID-19, the Federal Government has introduced CERB.   This program has formed to support workers and help businesses keep their employees.

The CERB is a taxable benefit that provides $2,000 per month for up to 4 months for all workers who have lost income due to COVID-19.   CERB also covers Canadians who have lost their job, are sick, quarantined, or taking care of someone who is sick with COVID-19.
